Strange huh.Īlso, I wonder why I can't get any emulator to work. Are you saying I should try using those? Oh yeah, I I used Nero Express to burn the CDs but I couldn't even pick a writing speed. I have another pack of CDRs around but there doesn't seem to be a brand name on it (also 80 min). I used a TDK brand (?) 80-minute CD-R that came in a pack of 50 (I think). Also when I started the game I think it said "Bulzome Rising", which is the Sc3 sub-title, so I patched it correctly. I definitely used the Sc3 disc, not Sc2, and I'm very confident I used the right option when patching. Someone really needs to compile a list of CD brands which work nicely with the swap trick/mod chips. Unfortunately, I'm not the person to ask for information on which brands to use I play Saturn games exclusive on emulators nowadays.

Saturn CDs themselves are actually 63 minute CDs - which are nigh on impossible to get nowadays, but a lot of brands' standard 80 minute CDs work. Some brands of CD simply do not play nicely.

Saturn CDs are notoriously finnicky - there's literally 4 pages of documentation in the dev manuals on the specifications of a Sega Saturn CD. If this still isn't working it could be a problem with the brand of CD you're using.

So I would suggest repatching the game and making sure you have the picked the drive with Scenario 3 in it, picking Scenario 3 from the patch menu and burning the CD at a slower speed (I gather 4-8x speed is a good speed). If you're getting a CD Read error just after the title screen it's usually indicative of you doing something like patching Scenario 2 with Scenario 3's patch. The screen turns black and the game freezes. After a successful swap, I get the game in English, but before I can load my save or start a new save, I get "CD READ ERROR! PLEASE CHECK CD AND PICKUP LENS"

I burnt the ISO on a CD-R and even ran the post-burn verification check, with no errors I downloaded the latest patch and applied it to my Sc3 game disc I use the cart Action Replay (Plus) 4in1, Version 2.01 to play imports (and backup my saves) I have a model 1 Saturn (oval buttons)

I couldn't get any emulator to run properly either, but in any case, I'd rather play on my Saturn especially since I can synchronize my Sc2 save (not to mention play on my TV with my beloved Saturn controller). Googling the error message yields no help at all (what few pages aren't in Japanese, all talk about emulator issues).Īny suggestions? I was so close to finally being able to enjoy the game too.

I thought maybe my CD-R was bad, so I burnt the ISO on a fresh disc, with no luck. what? I tried again a few times, and once even got as far as picking up a saved game (the one I started in Japanese, not very far into the game), but I got the error as soon as it started loading my save. Until I hit "Start" on the title screen, and got this:ĬD READ ERROR! PLEASE CHECK CD AND PICKUP LENS.Įr. It took me a while to get the CD swapping timing right with the Action Replay, as sometimes the disc wouldn't turn at all when I hit "Start Game With No Cheats Enabled" (and sometimes when I started the Saturn, it wouldn't even load the damn Action Replay menu and took me straight to the Saturn bios screen, WTF? has this ever happened to anyone else?), but when I finally saw the "Translation project v.12" message in the game's font, I cheered. So I downloaded the patch, made the patched Sc3 ISO and burnt it with Nero. This bothered me a lot, so I decided I'd read more about this translation project, and I learned of the CD swapping trick. only, after starting the game I realize that great portions of text are missing from the Sc3 transcript.

Needless to say, while this transcript is better than nothing, it's still kind of annoying, especially considering the (no offense to those who worked on it) the poor quality of the translation (chock full of Engrish, typos and encoding errors).īut, it seemed to be the simplest solution for someone without a modded Saturn, so I decided to continue that way for Scenario 3. I have a model 1 Saturn and the 4in1 Action Replay (Plus) cart, and I played through all of Scenario 2 in Japanese using a print-out of the transcript (found here). Apologies if this has been posted, but I really did search around and found no solution yet.
